As it happens with England or Scotland, Catalunya is an european non-sovereign nation located on the nord east of the Iberian peninsula.

Catalonia Vs Spain - Volume 2. The landscapes
If you go to the center of Spain, whitch can of landscapes do you spect? maybe green landscapes?, Do you think that is possible to have green landscapes and a lot of sun at the same time? I tell you, I know very well, it's not possible.
Did you know that a lot of "western" movies with a lot of dry and arid landscapes were filmed in Spain?
Did you know that in inside Spain there are not less than two deserts (Tabernes, Monegros) and a lot of places that are going dryer and dryer (for example: Almeria, Murcia, Alicante, Castilla regions)?
Let me show you some pictures of diferent places of Spain, just to give a glimpse of it:
1.- Monegros desert in Aragon.
2.- Murcia region.
3.- Tabernes desert in Alemria.
If you think in Catalonia, there's still on the Iberian Peninsula, but his geography makes it very diferent in clima. First of all, is in the northern part of the peninsula, the Mediterranean sea is pretty close and a lot of mountains is everywere, specially the Pirenees. No other place in the peninsula have thouse things. If you translate this into typical landscapes, you can find something like :

You can swim in the very cheap beaches of the southern Spain in crowded places like Benidorm (see foto), Marbella, Alicante, Valencia, Andalucia. Or you can try something different in Catalonia (still cheap) by going to little villages in the costa brava still with local flavour like Calella de Palafrugell (foto), Cadaques, Portlligat, Tossa de mar, Sant Feliu de guixols, etc..
